coat hanger In the past I made some clothes for Piet and myself. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of that. But in fact I more enjoyed making clothes for little girls. You can let your fantasy go wild and you only need a small piece of cloth (costing only a few Euros).

Click to enlarge this picture... This christening gown was made for my nephew Harry. Now I'm not sure if his parents did appreciate this present. His father thought it was rather silly that his son had to wear a dress. To me the message "faith, hope and love" (the cross, the anchor and the heart) in spangles on the front was something I wanted to give him.

Click to enlarge this picture... My dear niece Eveline was a living doll and every dress looked fantastic on her. This picture shows her in a pink dress. As an extra I had "written" (=sewed) her name with white bias binding.

Click to enlarge this picture... Once I made a hip jeans skirt for Mijke. As a baby she could wear it with a big diaper underneath. And when she grew up and became a toddler, she had a lovely mini skirt. The light blue shirt with little white dots was also a product of my work.

Carnival
Click to enlarge this picture... In the seventies / eighties Piet and I used to celebrate carnival together with our friends from Kerkrade. Everybody wore a "klone", a clownsuit. The first suits I made, were one-piece suits; they were awkward when you had to go to the bathroom.

Click to enlarge this picture... That is why I made two-piece suits later on; XXL so we could wear a big warm sweater underneath. It can be very cold on carnival days. On the picture you see my brother Prospère in a white Pierrot suit I also made.

We had a hardwarestore and the goodwill we achieved by doing so was priceless. Every year I tried to design costumes that had something to do with our business.
From left to right you see us as hamers, as batteries and me as a screw.
