Made by my Mum My Mum Antonia Ernest died on 11 October 2002 at the age of 80.
She was a very creative lady. From 1937 till 1945 she made ladies hats for the house of Cartigny and for Govers-Voss in Eindhoven.
It is a shame so much of her work has disappeared. I could only save a small selection. You will find her embroidery on this page. On the pages "Cuddly toys" and "Barbie" you can see other work of her. You find those pages under the button "Other needlework".
Saskia & Mum
Mum was pretty chaotic and (therefore?) loved "free embroidery"; I am more structured and cross-stitch is my favorite.
At the right you see Mum and me somewhere in the sixties.

My banner on top of this site is embroidered using the alphabeth and a border of this sampler.

Still she found time to do some needlework during her pregnancy. A lot of those projects are lost: worn or given away. For instance I remember baby bedding with blue Bambi deers, Just like the burp rag on the picture the design was from Ariadne, the most important Dutch needlework magazine of that time.
